Thank you to Judge: Hal Bierman for the Group 4 placement for “Ateş” @ the Silver Bay KC show in Del Mar, she went BOB both days. ASDCA was able to once again have a booth in Meet the Breed this year, it was a great success. We had some great Anatolian Shepherd dog ambassadors & we were able to do a lot of public education. A huge thank you to Rachel Amov for stepping up & volunteering to take charge of Meet the Breed.
“Ateş” recently achieved Gold Grand Championship status, making her the very first Anatolian to reach this level.

OMG!!! unbelievable…”Ateş” just got a Group 1 at the Working Dog Club of Arizona and was BIS at the working Group show. “Ateş” won a fabulous directors chair too. She got BOB all days for this cluster.
At the Fiesta cluster we also did well, on Saturday “Ateş” got a Group 3 under Judge: James Taylor @ Scottsdale KC, Sunday she got a Group 3 under Judge: Sharon Ann Redmer @ Arrowhead KC, Monday she got another Group 3 under Judge: Anne Marie Taylor @ Arrowhead KC.

“Ateş” just made history today with her Best in Show win under Judge: Dr Steve Keating at the Concho KC dog show in Texas.
I am honored to be the owner/breeder of the very first Anatolian Shepherd dog to ever receive an AKC Best in Show, never in the 19 years since being accepted into AKC has this happened. I am grateful to the numerous individuals who had the foresight to make the necessary sacrifices to move our breed forward. These are the pioneers of our breed, the ones listed in “Ateş’s” pedigree the breeders who have followed in their footsteps are to be thanked for their wisdom and timeless dedication on behalf of the future of the breed that led to this historical and memorable event which took place in Texas today. It saddens me that thereof our founding members, bob Ballard, Quinn (Skip) Harned, & Louise Emanuel are no longer with us to have witnessed the 1st Best in Show Anatolian. I’m sure they would be proud!

Road Trip for Ric and “Ateş are enroute to the 2018 ASDCA National Specialty in Maryland. Starting off their trip with a bang with a Group 3 placement for “Ateş” under Judge: Diane Landstrom at Arizona White Mountain KC. Then off to Texas where “Ateş” gets a Group 2. She received Select at the Specialty and the following day. Unfortunately we were unable to stay for the remainder of the weekend as Ric had to return home unexpectedly.

ASDCA Supported Entry at Bates Nut Farm, with both Mt Palomar KC & Bahia Sur joining together for a 4 day show. Karaboudjan Anatolians racked up the trophies this weekend with BOB for “Ateş” Friday & Saturday, plus a Group 4 Friday under Judge: Polly Smith. “Xena” got two 5 point majors & “Stone” got his 2nd major ( both puppies I kept from the Muska x Phoenix litter). My most memorable moment this weekend was actually showing Shami in Veterans with her two littermate sisters, and showing both Shami and Muska (and their offspring) in Brood Bitch to Judge: Jacqueline Stacy. Our potluck was fabulous as usual. I could not show Sunday or Monday since I’m a member of Mt Palomar, but I did get to watch & hand out some great trophies to other Anatolian winners!

On my way to the 2018 Westmister Dog Show in New York with “Ateş” for her 2nd year. Ric is unable to go as he recently had knee surgery so his best friends Bruce & Tara Schultz of Team Schultz have once again graciously agreed to show her. Once again “Ateş” wins BOB at Westminster under Judge: Johan Becerra-Hernandez. I had a fabulous time in NY, meeting up with great friends. Definitely a trek to fly to the East Coast, but clearly well worth it. Tara & “Ateş” looked beautiful in the Working Group at Madison Square Gardens, and as always it’s so much fun and somewhat surrealistic to see your dog on the “big screen” at the Westminster Dog Show.

Starting off the New Year right at the KC of Palm Springs dog show (one of the largest AKC Shows). Day 1 “Rowdy” (“Ateş’s” littermate brother) was BOB, “Ateş” went BOS, ½ brother Rosin (same sire *Kenzo* as “Ateş” & “Rowdy) went Winner’s Dog. Day 2 “Ateş” went BOB, and “Stone” from the Muska x Phoenix litter at his first show went Winner’s Dog for a 3 pt major.

Flying to Florida with “Ateş” & handlers Bruce and Tara Schultz for the Orlando Cluster/Royal Canin AKC’s National Championship Dog Show (previously Eukanuba). Flying a large breed dog across country is no easy task, but with Team Schultz it’s much easier and a whole lot less stressful. “Ateş” had a very successful week with 4 days of BOB wins & day 5 at took BOS to her sire Kenzo. A huge thank you to handlers extraordinaire Bruce & Tara Schultz and their assistants, Daniel Magee & Mike Berry. Such a wonderful end to a great year!

Had a fabulous time At the Living Desert Zoo attending a presentation with Shazam for their Cheetah Outreach program. I was treated to a private guided tour with some stunning animals and received a complimentary membership for bringing Shazam for their program. For those living in Southern California, if you haven’t had the opportunity to visit this zoo in Palm Desert, please do so, you won’t be disappointed.

Day 3 she got BOB & a Group 4 under Judge Anne Marie Taylor @ Jefferson County KC.
I’m thrilled to have received both the 2016 Gold Leash and Gold Guardian award for “Ateş”, in addition to have her name added to the Peki perpetual trophy for Best Opposite Sex (donated by Quinn/Marilyn Harned) & the Best Female perpetual trophy (donated by Candice Wolf). The ASDCA Gold Leash is awarded to the Anatolian that has defeated more dogs (all breed), & the Gold Guardian is awarded to the Anatolian that has defeated more Anatolian Shepherd Dogs than any other during the calendar year in AKC competition. Thank you to handler extraordinaire Ric Plaut for making this Road Trip so successful.

It’s something else seeing your dog on national live TV. I had a fabulous time sightseeing, visiting the AKC museum, seeing a play, eating great food and taking in the sights and sounds of New York. All in all it was the trip of a lifetime. Thank you to Ric Plaut for making the trip.
